DPRK Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs addresses UNGA and meets UN Secretary-General

H.E. Mr. Kim Son Gyong, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea addressed the UN General Assembly in New York on 29 September 2025. This was the first time a high-level official travelled from Pyongyang to join the General Assembly since 2018, when then Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho was in attendance. Following the address, Vice-Minister Kim met with UN Secretary-General to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula and areas to strengthen the cooperation between the United Nations and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. UN Resident Coordinator Joe Colombano joined the meeting in New York.
